Emotions and Places
How do physical environments around us influence our emotions? What are the emotionally restorative landscapes? I study how everyday environments, such as natural landscapes or dense urban spaces, shape psychological experiences and contribute to human well-being.
Nostalgia for historical landmarks
We often use nostalgia to connect our past, present, and future selves and create a coherent story of our identity.
We use nostalgia to ‘see’ memories of people, places or events through a magnifying glass. In so doing, we inadvertently contribute to the creation of a personal heritage.
Together with Historic England’ Missing Places project we hope to document these personal stories that link people to their national heritage. The project aims to document people’s connections to any historic landmarks, from buildings and palaces to parks and pubs.
If you have any such contributions or a personal heritage story that you would like to share, visit the Missing Places interactive map.
Nostalgia for the Sea
The Seaside Campaign of the Missing Pieces is looking to document the stories that link us to the coastal areas of England.
If you have any contribution or story that connects you to coastal landmarks that you would like to share, visit the Seaside Stories webpage.
